INSPIRING HOPE & TRANSFORMING FUTURES

WHO WE ARE

We are a diverse group united by a passion for rescuing and restoring hope in children from Chennai’s slums, and serving the homeless in Atlanta’s Woodruff Park through food, prayer, and ministry - transforming lives, one at a time.

Hesed Global is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with Employer Identification Number (EIN): 87- 4583119. All donations are tax-deductible.

When you donate to HESED, 100% of your contribution goes directly into the mission.

David & Gen Tilaka

Don & Siby Varghese

Don & Siby Varghese

David & Gen were born and raised in Chennai, India. They have lived in various continents and eventually settled back in the USA. They've been married for 28 years and have 3 children. Their hearts have always been for the under-privileged children in Chennai, to educate them and thus helping break the cycle of poverty. Their lives were impacted when they went back home in 2019. They joined a local team that went into the worst slums of their city. Seeing how this team worked tirelessly and lovingly, they decided to partner with them, committing to help the team, rescue, shelter, educate and set up a food program. It has been an extraordinary journey as they continue to bring hope, rewrite futures and establish lives.

Don & Siby are both of Indian descent but were raised in New York. They've been married for 14 years and have 2 children. When they moved down in 2015 to the state of Georgia, they went through a series of life-threatening and life-altering events. Don had heart surgery and suffered a massive stroke. During his recovery their perspective on life completely changed. David & Gen played a vital role in helping Don & Siby get their lives back on track and a divine friendship was formed. When the idea of starting Hesed came up, there was no hesitation that they would play a vital role in this organization. After stepping foot in India and meeting the Chennai team, it solidified their decision.

Elisabeth Selvey

Elisabeth Selvey was born and raised in Chennai, India.

In April 2022, a life- changing moment caused her to forgo her corporate career of over a decade, for a life of servitude. Life has a way of knocking you down, but the grace of our Lord will never take you to a place where His love cannot redeem you! Passionate about serving, witnessing the zeal David and Gen had toward servitude, and looking at what the team on Ground Zero (Chennai) did to make a difference in the lives of people who have been dealt with lesser than most of us, Liz decided to make a change in her life to partner with the team in bringing back the lost sheep of Jesus. The journey is long and winding, but it shall bear fruit, bringing hope, love and joy to the people encountered.
